Truth / Identity

Being a disciple (What is truth?) – Where do we find our truth?

What is truth? Who defines truth? Where does ultimate truth come from? Where does technology fit? Where, as Christians, ought we find our value and worth?

A Narcissistic Culture

When we post something to our social networks, WHY do we do it? Are we searching for approval? Will be feel better about ourselves if more people ‘like’ what we have to say? Or if we get more visitors to our site / blog? Where does our value and self worth come from?

Are we finding our definition vertically, through Christ, or horizontally, through others?

Consider this article from the Sydney Morning Herald – discuss how you respond to this given your use of social media? Should a Christian respond in the way the article suggests? Or perhaps the Christian will have a different response?

Social Networking – To bring together, or divide?

This is a very interesting article that could be used for discussion – regarding the use of ‘circles’ in Google+

A Choice (moodle choice)

In the choice below, you need to (honestly) rate the importance you place upon technology (and connectedness) in your life. Once you have selected the appropriate option for you, you will be able to see a summary of the results. your choice is anonymous, nobody will know what YOU have chosen, so please, be completely honest!

  • I NEED to be connected. I feel uncomfortable if i’m unable to check my computer of phone for a period of time.
  • I like my technology and check regularly, but don’t mind having a break from it occasionally.
  • I can take it or leave it. I use technology to keep in touch with people, but that’s about it.
  • I try and avoid technology where I can. I’m happy to use a computer, but would rather do something else.
  • Keep me away from technology! I just don’t want to know about it.
