Installing the Cybersafety Help Button on iDevices

Many of us have children, or are responsible for children who have access to a variety of Apple iPads, iPhones and iPods.

One small thing we can do to help them be safe, is to provide them with an easy way to seek help, if they should come across something whilst using the device that makes them uncomfortable or that they know is unsafe. The Australian Government “Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy” has developed a number of resources for families and schools to use with regard to online safety and security.

Cybersafety Help Button

One of these such resources is the Cybersafety Help Button. You can find instructions for adding this to the home screen of your device here: Cyber Safety Help Button

Follow those instructions on the device to install the ‘web app’. Once installed, the button will give you immediate access to a range of resources that will enable kids to either ‘Talk’ about a problem, ‘Report’ cyberbullying or anything they see online that just isn’t right, and ‘Learn’ about how to use the internet wisely.

We recommend checking it out.
